About Us

Knuckleheads Winter Recreation Association is a non profit volunteer group dedicated to alpine recreation along the Powell Divide in the Qathet Regional District of British Columbia. We are all inclusive with both motorized and non motorized members who choose a variety of means to access and play in the mountains. Although “winter” is in our name, and is our primary focus, our activities and attention are on mountain recreation in all seasons.

Enhancing Access can mean many things. We maintain four alpine huts and plan to build more. We maintain a network of trails and roadbeds so that members and visitors can easily access those cabins and other recreation areas in the Qathet Region. We provide safety information and training such as avalanche awareness meetings and accredited avalanche safety training (AST 1) based out of our cabins as well as working with local media to keep mountain safety on the minds of our community. Through partnerships with both the BC government and Qathet RD we provide liability insurance for all the hard working volunteers helping with our projects. Originally incorporated in 1998 the KWRA is now lead by an enthusiastic board of directors and with the community behind them we are positioned to prosper in the coming decades!
